What books and software do you suggest to learn piano, reading sheet music, and music theory?
I'm trying to learn how to play the piano. I guess the first step is to figure out how to read sheet music. I was wondering if there was any software that will let me learn notes from the computer keyboard. Then I was hoping to get some books to learn how to actually play the piano, music theory, and also reading sheet music. Thanks.

If you dont know anything about piano technic and musical theory, I`ll suggest the old method of Schmoll, that you can find in the Net. There are five books and with each of them one may learn since de beginning, practice and theory running together.
This if you havent a teacher, of course.
Best wishes

Have you looked into getting a teacher? It is really difficult to self teach the piano because their is no one there to advise you when you make a mistake or to show you the proper techinique.
There are certain things that one can teach oneself but I think the piano isn't, at least not in the beginning.
A few good books you may want to look into are a Dozen a Day and Hannon.
