I need help
on: June 15, 2010, 02:36:08 PM
I want to learn to play piano so I could join my friend band but Im having difficulty what to be my part if I join them when they practice
I can play "How to save I life-by the fray".
And I want to learn more and get better in keyboards/piano
What is the difference in playing solo keyboard?
and in the band keyboard?

In a band, there's usually a bass player who plays the bass note, the lowest note. Since that person is there, that note is there, the pianist doesn't have to play it. You can leave it out.
If you're playing solo, then you should have that bass note. No else is playing it so you need to. It's a different style of playing.
Sounds like you're looking for a jazz piano teacher or a jazz/popular piano teacher. More so than a classical teacher. Although a traditional classical teacher could probably help you figure something out too.
