The Art of Piano Playing - Neuhaus
on: June 17, 2010, 04:27:30 PM
Recently i've been trying to find this book translated to ENGLISH.

However i can only find it in russian. I've tried this one:

https://www.bookdepository.co.uk/book/9781871082456/The-Art-of-Piano-Playing?b=-3&t=-26#Bibliographicdata-26

and this one: https://bookshop.blackwell.co.uk/jsp/id/The_Art_of_Piano_Playing/9781871082456

Please notice that the ISBN is THE SAME...
Book depository told me that they do not have the book (not sure if in english or even the russian version)

So my question is. Does this book even exist in english? And has any one of you has this book?
Is there a way that i can read this book?

It does exist.  I have it.  And I googled it in Amazon (thank you again, hztb!) and it runs for 40$!?

Hey watch it!  The UK publisher's a friend of mine.  Shame he doesn't have the USA rights or you'd be laughing.  Ordering through the UK shouldn't set you back.

Good, but I disagree with his hand falling from a height.  Also, I don't think he relaxes the wrist after key descent.

Pardon me, but have you ever seen him play, much less, in person?

Best,
JBM

I saw his son STanislav play the four ballades in Siena YEARS ago. Handsome man with a mane of premature white hair.  I wasn't too impressed with his playing.  I guess he sort of took over his father's mission in life.  Everyone flocked to him for lessons.  But he paled in comparison.  I think Gilels and Richter best emulated his teachings.  Which went way beyond piano technique, by the way.

Deary me, Morris won't be pleased at all.  Nice bloke - gave me one of his spare violin bows on Sunday!

Hey saying that, I love the notes on the back cover!
