Can someone rank these pieces
on: June 20, 2010, 05:47:47 PM
Hi All

I'm looking at long term goals and these are pieces  I'd like to tackle. I've lsted them in order of what I think are most difficult, easiest to hardest what do others think or do I go by grade level.

I'm at grade 4/5 and at moment working through Bach's Inventions and play for pure pleasure rather than performance so quite happy to play with notes, any help appreciated.

Fur Elise - Beethoven

Gymnopedie - Satie

Moonlight Sonata - Beethoven

Claire de Lune- Debussey

Gnossiennes No 1 - Satie

Liebstraume - Liszt

Rondo a la Turk - Mozart

Impromptu Op 90 no 3 - Schubert

Sonata in c K545 - Mozart

Impromptu Op 90 No 2 - Schubert

Concerto 21 K467 - Mozart

Concerto 20 K466 - Mozart

Nocturne 8 Op 27 - Chopin

Pathetique Op 13 No 8 - Beethoven

Piano Concerto 2 in C min Op 18 2 - Racmaninov

You could look these pieces up in various syllabi such as the RCM or ABRSM to get an idea of where they stand in difficulty.  Of course there are personal challenges in technique, some pieces may be easier or harder to different people.

Here is a slightly reordered list:

Fur Elise - Beethoven

Gymnopedie - Satie

Claire de Lune- Debussey

Gnossiennes No 1 - Satie

Sonata in C K545 - Mozart

Rondo a la Turk - Mozart

Impromptu Op 90 No 2 - Schubert

Impromptu Op 90 no 3 - Schubert

Liebesträume No 3 - Liszt

Pathetique Op 13 - Beethoven

Nocturne 8 Op 27 No 2 - Chopin

Moonlight Sonata Op 27 No 2 - Beethoven

Concerto 20 K466 - Mozart

Concerto 21 K467 - Mozart

Piano Concerto 2 in C min Op 18 2 - Rachmaninoff
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Thanks Quantum exactly what I need, I know there may be slight differences but it's good to get the opinion of people on here.

Look at this site by sheet music. You cant download if you haven't got a gold membership. But you can see the grade of difficulty.
