I have a Yamaha Portable Grand DGX-620
https://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/ContentDetail/ModelSeriesDetail.html?CNTID=451231

I want to record songs (with video too, like in Youtube), so I need to know what do I need in order to do that. (which cables, from where to where to connect, which program, how to make the video sync with the audio)

Also think about adding vocal to the records, what do I need in order to do that? (expect mic of curse :) )

This guy has the same piano as I have:

I asked him how he connected the piano, and he said:
Quote
I have a 1/4" audio cable from there to M-audio fastrack which is usb'd into the computer. I use sony vegas and sync the audio with the picture
But I didn't get it much..need more explanation.

Thank you!!

I would guess the M-audio is an audio interface for the computer -- a better sound card or sound processing equipment than the computer has.  The audio interface spits out digital information into the computer to record.

You could just record it out of the air with a mic.  If your keyboard has speakers.

Or directly from the keyboard -- Use the audio outs or headphone jack and get that into the computer's line-in or mic input.  You might need an adapter to go from the 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch.  That would allow you to record something from the keyboard.

That's analog.  Some keyboard have digital outs for sound.  But you need to be able to plug that into something that can interpret the digital information.  Like an audio interface.

Or if you want a better recording, you could use a dedicated computer that only records audio or some kind of stand-alone audio recording device.  That's more expensive though.

I'm not quite sure about the video.  Or software to edit video.  You could probably record video and audio separate and get better audio that way and then sync them up later with video editting.

Whatever the guy on the video is doing, he's recording only the sound from the keyboard.  No external sounds.  The audio out from the keybord into something that records it.  It might be into a video camera, the computer, or something separate to record audio that would be editted into a video later.  Actually I see one wire in the back -- Maybe he's getting the audio out from the keyboard's headphone and just plugging that into the computer's mic in jack.  Then possibly even just recording it from the computer.  It could be a little webcam thing or a camera built into the computer or a whole external regular video camera.  Oh duh... That black stand looks like it's just for the mic now.  Who knows.  It would be something along those lines.  There could be people talking or other noises in the background and what he's hearing on those headphones might not be exactly what we're hearing.

He's sitting kind of low but it's at a computer...

Exactly right, Bob. May I add that the simple solution will always be the best. These days things plug together rather simply and unless you're very picky you won't hear the differences in impedance matching.

I would plug the keyboard audio into the computer and use your "skype" camera with public domain video recording software.. Or plug the audio into a video camera that has an external mic input.

I'm not an expert, but the computer isn't the "best" top of the line sound.  An audio interface would be better.

The cords too I forgot about -- You could get balanced audio cables and adapter (an unbalanced adapater makes it all unbalanced).  That will block out any other signals from interfering with your audio -- like flipping on or off a light switch, things that use power turning on or off, radio waves, (I think radio waves), other electrics in the area like the computer, etc.  Those things can add extra garbage into your audio.  If you can keep the cord length as short as possible then the cable won't act like an antenna and capture other garbage with your sound -- I think it's generally ok if the cord is under 2 meters.
