mp3?
on: July 24, 2010, 02:21:07 PM
Can someone please explain to me how I post a recording in the audition room.  In layman's terms, please.  And when I say layman I mean like "put finger on red button, push down..."
I know how to post a video in youtube and transfer it to pianostreet, but something from a cd?
Thankx in advance!

Well it's really easy :) you just have to click on: additional options (that's under the post that you are writing) and then you have there Attach and you have to choose the file that you want to upload). From your computer... but do you have it only on a cd? cause then it would probably be a little harder  :-\ I think you would have to get it of the cd first. I mean if it is audio cd... if it is a cd with different files for a computer then it would be just the same... I don't know if I described this very well :)  :D
Will you post something? will you post you playing? :)  8)  8)  :P

I can't believe an 11 year-old-girl is giving me instructions on using the computer! :P
So what you're saying is, I first transfer the cd to my computer, then I transfer that file to pianostreet?  why does it say it has to be in form mp3?
Yes, I wanted to post something and dedicate it to you! ;D

I think I've got it.  I posted a video on youtube once, so I guess this is just basically the same.  I guess you're right.  It's automatically mp3.  Anyway, yes, I did an encore recently and I want to dedicate it to you! ;D

Audio CD's contain WAV files.  Taking audio off an audio CD is called ripping.  You can rip to WAV (which results in practically the same files as burnt to the CD) or you can rip to a converted mp3 (lower quality, smaller size).

Go here and download CDex (free and open source):
https://cdexos.sourceforge.net/

Once in the program, go into Configuration to set the mp3 conversion properties.

Next, pop in the CD and locate the tracks you want to rip.  Make note where the mp3's are stored.  Proceed to rip audio.

Go to PS and start a post.  Click Additional Options, attachments, find the mp3's. Upload. Click more attachments if more files need to be uploaded.  Post.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Oh well I don't really know so much about all that, I just try something and if it works I do it like that and if not I just try something until I figure it out  :-\ . And when I want to copy something from audio cd I just put the cd into my computer and then open the cd in Windows media player and then click on: copy from cd and there I choose the ones I want to copy and then click on copy music and that's that and it just saves it to your computer (into my music folder, at least that's how's on my computer). That's really easy...( except if you have to change from digital to audio cd, because if it's set on digital cd then it doesn't want to copy the music, you have to change settings to audio cd). And then it is saved as mp3. That's all I know.  :P
