[VIDEO] Octaves Unleased!
on: July 24, 2010, 03:38:47 PM
I hope I put this in the right forum. This is only a small excerpt, so I did not put it in the Audition Room. I play the Black Key Etude octaves at the end as triplets, in regular tempo!  :D This is just for entertainment, so I hope you get a chuckle out of it.

Wow. :o  But it sounded like a toy piano.  Maybe it was the recording.  But I almost prefer it with a heavier touch and a little underspeed.  Probably because that's the way I've always heard it.  Agosti told a story in his classes at Chigiana in Siena.  He used to say make sure there is at least one item, something special in your concert.  He heard a so-so recital by a rather famous pianist and wasn't at all impressed until he heard an encore of this etude with the octaves played in time like you did.  It saved the concert for him!

Hehe, thanks guys. :) And yes, the audio sounds kind of tinny.

I was thinking of learning the etude (I only know these couple measures right now, LOL!) and using it as an encore, just for the octaves like that.

Oh, if you like black key octaves, go learn (the finale of) Alkan's Concerto for Solo Piano, Op. 39 - I am sure it would be a great fun learning it (as I failed).
