Obscure Dutch composers
on: July 27, 2010, 06:48:18 PM
Does anyone know where I could find any of these pieces?

Fantasie No. 1, by Jan van Boom
Sonatine, Op. 3 No. 1, by Gerrit Jan van Eijken
Four Etudes, by Ernst Lubeck
Dolorosa, ma non patetico, by Léandre Schlegel
Drie stukken (Three Piano Pieces), Op.29, by Jan Brandts Buys
5 Klavierstukken (Piano Pieces) Op.15, by Dirk Schafer

I've scoured the Internet- if anyone knows where I can acquire these, it would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried going to the Muziek Centrum Nederland? They have scores for many Dutch composers there.

Thank you for the suggestion- none of the pieces I'm looking for were on the site, though. (But I'm bookmarking the site- thank you again).

For Dutch composers, Broekmans is always worth a look https://www.broekmans.com/en/default.cfm

Donemus publish loads of Dutch scores

The Nederlands Music Institute have helped me out on a few occasions

Muziekbeurs of Amsterdam is sheet music heaven. Worth an e mail as the thousands of scores in their basement are not list on their website.

Happy hunting.

Here's the link to the Three Piano Pieces, Op.29:
https://imslp.org/wiki/3_Klavierst%C3%BCcke,_Op.29_(Brandts_Buys,_Jan)

IMSLP.org also has other rare sheet music for other rare composers too.
Currently working on:
*Prelude, Op.23 N.4 (Rachmaninoff)
*Prelude & Fugue in F major, WTC II (Bach)
...not fully decided on what else to start (most likely will be a Liszt, Schubert, or Medtner)...
