My friend Susan came to my home for several times this summer holiday. She began playing my piano when she got my house and kept playing for the whole day !!!:(
So I can't practice playing when she comes to my house :'(
Sometimes I have to finish playing some pieces of music because these are my homework,I really need to practice!!!!
If I ask Susan not to play my piano, maybe she will never came to my home, and I will be made to feel mean and unkind.
She even asked me to teach her!
What should I do?

(P.S  Susan hasn't got a piano, and she never get piano lessons.I ever asked her to find a teacher and began piano lessons, but she said she did not want to spend money on learing.)

Sounds like you might need to compromise with Susan.   Tell her it's important that
you need to practice, and that she is only allowed a limited time to play on your piano.
Or better yet, do you have another friend that owns a piano?  Anyhow, you need to
make it clear to Susan what the boundaries are or she will manipulate you and your day,
which it seems to me she is doing a good job of that.  When you communicate your feelings to Susan in a firm yet kind manner, she will understand.  It's great that she loves playing the piano.  Just teach her for 1/2  hour once a week, if you can handle it.  Good luck and let me know how it goes, okay?   ;)   :)

You could put a piano lid lock on it.  That should help.

Or stick a sign on the piano, "Reserved from 8am-5pm daily."

Kidding.  Just tell her you need time on your instrument.

I have the same problem! I'm actually sitting here all annoyed as we speak because I can't play my piano, and I can hear someone I live with banging the keys grr..  I feel really selfish, but I work until 5 pm which doesnt leave me a lot of time to practise....Only my pleas to let me play my own piano are not working!
So I'm flat hunting. Wish me luck :)

You could ask them to kick in a little for tuning it later.  If they're playing on it, they're putting some wear and tear on it and putting it out of tune faster.
