First Piano COncerto Suggestion
on: August 07, 2010, 03:40:21 PM
I have been thinking for some time now that I really should learna piano concerto and it has occured to me that I do not know where to start. Could you please suggest a good concerto to start off with as my first, from both a technical point of view and a musical one. Also, if possible, one that is not too challenging to play with the orchestral part as my experience of ensemble work is limited to playing the occasional duet and accompanying the occasional singer...

My technical ability is more than sufficient for such pieces as the complete Mozart sonatas and is nearly sufficient to make a stab at the Chopin etudes... However, with a bit of concerted effort I could learn to play pieces more difficult than those listed above! Thanks for any suggestions you may have!

Haydn D Major.
Some Mozart concertos are good too, like No.21
Bach - Partita No.2
Scriabin - Etude 8/12
Debussy - L'isle Joyeuse
Liszt - Un Sospiro

Goal:
Prokofiev - Toccata
