Help me pick out a piece?
on: August 17, 2010, 11:50:19 AM
I'm writing this story, and my main character is a pianist.
I go here for research but now I need some actual input.

Certain classical pieces have a story, or at least are associated with one.

Can you give me a level 5-7 piece that might have something to do with friendship or acceptance as the inspiration?

a melancholic piece, if possible. nothing too happy.

Sorry to ask this. I've been trying to find one myself, but I don't really know how to go about it.

First thing that came to my mind is the first movement of Mozart's KV 331.
When I hear this I have a young boy in my mind, experiencing his first time playing with someone he's not used to.

Another one is the piano version of Petrouchka by Stravinsky. It looks hard to play, but its an awesome piece with a big story behind it. Its the story of a boy made of straw who wishes to have a heart but eventually comes to life.

Im dont know if its in that 5-7 level range, didnt study with those levels, sorry.
