Golden Birthday
on: August 25, 2010, 04:00:56 AM
I could not resist posting this.

I have a habit of sending musical birthday greetings to my friends. This week is packed with birthdays, including my own on Friday (...if you want to play me a tune  ;D). Today's (Yesterday's depending on where you are) is special because a friend turned 24 on the 24th...and with a beautiful full moon, which helped my focus.

I am liking this new TASCAM DR-07. It's just what I need!

You have birthday in August too? That's cool! Me too  :P  8)
This improvisation is fun :) and the beginning reminds me a little of something from Wolfi I think :) but im not sure...
I would love to play you a tune, but it would just hurt your ears  :-\ It would be much better if I draw something for you but now it's not enough time to draw something good... :-\ ... well I hope you have a really great birthday tomorrow!!  :)  8)

Me too :) Perhaps "centuries". But then it goes a totally different path :)
And the ending sounds a bit bluesy :)
Here it's friday soon. Hmmm, I'm usually very busy on fridays but....

love the different "paths" Some really strange but beautiful harmonies, a pleasure to listen to as always with your improvs

Thanks for commenting, Chopinatic. It's hard for me to escape chromatic doodles and certain chords which feel and sound right to my brain!  :)

Littletune, I'm sure you'd do fine and be creative with music. Your bird song is a testament. Otherwise, I thank you for the resemblance to Wolfi. That's a huge compliment! :)

All the best to all of you!

I didn't notice the birthday melody in there at first, it just sounded like a really interesting improv. Impressive technique, too. I sometimes make feeble attempts at runs of thirds and 6th chords and so forth and usually I end up tripping somewhere.  Anyway, I really liked this. I remember quantum doing a birthday improv once, and again it didn't sound like the birthday melody at first, but was really cool.

Thanks Derek! I think I was most interested in the harmonic setting and transition. The difficulty is in the accompanying figuration I've grown accustomed to, the single notes scaling the keyboard in octaves. Otherwise, what you probably heard was the left hand descending on white note 7th's with a fourth enclosed...this is more or less like an octave scale, and not itself of great difficulty.

I sometime must dig Quantum's up. His extraordinary talent fascinates me.
