Re Starting

Hey there folks,
I haven't practiced in over two years. I just stopped, cold turkey. I finished my senior year of high school, played The First movement of the Tempest and Bach Prelude no 21 WTC I at my recital and stopped. I'm now looking to start up again, and I need a piece that will motivate me to practice and not discourage me enough to make me quit. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hey I am kind of a newbie to piano, however in my opinion a piece that you personally enjoy listening to will bring the best motivation. Not too sure about difficulty and discouragement though.  You should definitely listen through some pieces and determine which one will suit your current skill level (I'm learning Schumann's op 68 - 16 right now. I like it, maybe you might like it also, so check it out). Good luck!

Would a single piece motivate you to practice? Might I suggest you think more widely about what you need to motivate you?

Are there any concerts you would like to give? Perhaps creating a chamber group might be an idea?

I fear if you pick a piece, that on it's own might not be the motivation you need.
