Thalibanjo

Our Thal might like to know (if he doesn't already, which he probably does) about the following early work by the almost alarmingly prolific Austrian (later naturalised American) composer Ernst Křenek...

op. 17
Der Sprung über den Schatten
Instrumentation: Chor - 2.2.4.3 - 3.1.2.0 - Pk, Schl (2) - Xyl, Banjo - Str
Year of origin: 1923
Duration: 95 min

...which was not, I believe, the only time that he wrote for banjo, a further example being

op. 50
Das geheime Königreich
Instrumentation: Chor - Ballett - 2.2.2.2 - 1.1.1.0 - Pk, Schl - Str - Bühne: Schl - Banjo od. Mand
Year of origin: 1926
Duration: 55 min

I believe there's a banjo in at least one recording of Weill's 'Kleine Dreigroschenmusik'. I've never seen a score of it.
Instrumentalists are all wannabe singers. Discuss.

Interesting, but i don't think i would like to suffer over 2 hours of Krenek to hear a bit of banjo.
