What is YOUR inspiration?
on: September 09, 2010, 01:41:49 PM
Hi All!!

Just a quick question...and thought...

What is it about music that captivates you?

Why do you play the piano (out of all the choices of  instruments)?

Whats that 'Something' that inspires YOU, or where do you get YOUR inspiration from?

Maybe i should have made that 'question' plural ;)

I guess ill go First  :)

I love music, and i don't like maths--i thinks this is because in music there is almost no right and wrong, it is about your interpretation of what you are hearing or what music you are making. To me its like a river, it is never still, yet it can be so calming, when inspiration strikes its like it has broken its banks and is making its own path discovering new things and finding new ways to express itself...

Ive always wanted to play the piano becuase to ME, it is an instrument which is beautiful by itself, its music that i can listen to for hours on end without tiring of it. It is perfect by itself YET it also sounds beautiful with any other instrument!

A lot of what inspires me to play the piano is watching other pianists, the way that they are able to play a piece that is composed by someone else, yet also express themselves at the same time. Also people who are able to improvise and really bring their music to life and communicate in a language where no words are necessary.

A part of wanting to play is to be able to perform, but also its a journey where im constantly learning how to bring out my thoughts and words and ideas through my fingers, into music form!

Well thats just a little!

How about You?

I love music because it's like another world  :)  :P and it's a really nice and cool world and it makes you feel free and like you can do whatever you want and like you can be whatever you want to be!  :P  8)  :)
I started playing piano... well first I didn't think I will learn to play piano, because I think about 2 or 3 years before I started learning piano my mum and me went to a concert and I liked it really a lot and I especially liked cellos and double basses, so since then I was saying all the time that I want to learn to play cello (because I thought that double bass would probably be a little too big for me). And I was saying to my mum all the time that I wanna go to music school and learn to play cello, but then that year it was already too late (because it was like March already and you usually have to start in September) and then next year it was too late too when we started looking for music schools cause it was like October already  ::) and then my mum and me talked about it and we decided that I would first just learn something just for fun, so I started learning to play keyboard a little in school, just to see if I would still like it after a while and if I was any good at music at all because I didn't know anything at all about music then. So then I was playing keyboard a little and I liked it every time more  :P and the teacher said I should start learning piano seriously and I really really really really really wanted to  :P so I started learning piano last year  :P  :P and first I thought I won't be able to cause my mum couldn't pay for it then, but they said at music school we didn't have to pay right away that we could pay in December (because that's when my mum got more money). And in June I did grade 1 and 2 exams  :)  :)  :P so now I just started grade 3 piano  :)  8)  :P And I'm really really really really really happy about it!!  :P  :)
I'm not exactly sure what inspires me  :-\ I think a lot of things.  :) My piano inspires me  :D  ;D and other pianos and that other world (music world) cause it makes me happy.  :) And my music school  :) And some people and even animals  :D (like that doggy at my music school :) ). And Pianostreet inspires me and people from Pianostreet!  :)  :D  :P  8)  :) maybe something else too but I can't remember now  :)  :P

My grandma offered to get me piano lessons....
I got my first piano lesson about two years ago....
about five minutes into the lesson, I got it. evrything i'd learned about notes and rhythms before then just came together and made sense. i soon absolutely fell in love with music and the piano.
Before then, i hadn't really found anything that i liked, that made me happy.
I LOVED being able to play the piano.....
It gave me a sense of purpose, and I suppose that's why i play.....

Hi Littletune!

THanks for sharing! Ur right about it being another world! when i can ill sit and play and practice and before i know it its been 3 hours, and it doesn't even feel like it! I started learning piano a bit later in life, in a way i regret that i didnt start earlier but then i think, MAYBE i wouldnt have liked it and called it tedious, BUT im sure making up for lost time now!

i play till 11:30pm before everyone gives me the cue to SHUT UP! haha :P

I just found out about Pianostreet not too long ago and it really is helpful!

Hello Redragon,

its funny how music does that! There are other things i like to do, i paint a little, write a little but its with the PIANO that I really have DIRECTION, like you said about 'giving you a purpose.'

I always have a sense of fulfillment after ive sat down and played the piano, even when im by myself..thats when i enjoy it best!

For me its a little bit like meditation coz your mind is only concentrated on one thing, (well should be :)) I forget about everything else when i play the piano, Its just me and the piano in a 'non existent' room somewhere in this universe...

My best inspiration is music. I have been playing the guitar for 10 years now and I wrote my best pieces after listening to quality music. Whenever I listen to a tune I always find some imperfection in it and find a way I can "upgrade" it. I have written my best songs this way. Some may call this stealing, I call it inspiration.
