Yupp, another one... and I'm pretty sure "other" will win, since he left out that many composers. It's even in the wrong board.

Not many right ones there my friend!

I wonder if the antecedent of "another one" is a poll or a person.   8)

I like how ;other' is meant to include the other 100,000 who are just not worthy to stand amongst those 4 giants :o
Never look at the trombones. You'll only encourage them.

Considering the sillyness of the matter, I will give an alternative (but perhaps even right!) name: Domenico Scarlatti. I think it was he who was, at the end of his life, so fat that he couldn't cross his hand while playing the keyboard. So he may not have been the greatest, but perhaps the biggest!

Perotin? Machaut? Monteverdi? Haydn? Schubert? Bruckner? Mahler? Chaikovsky? Schönberg? Messiaen? Boulez? Shostakovich? Ives? Carter? To name but a few...

In the long run, any words about music are less important than the music. Anyone who thinks otherwise is not worth talking to (Shostakovich)

I thought it was Brahms, but that doesn't make any sence, really...
Chaikovsky?
Woha! I've never seen that spelling before

< Beginning of lecture >
The only correct way of spelling the man's last name is Чайковский. Any transcription into another language using another alphabet amounts to using such letters that produce, in the language chosen, something consonant with Чайковский. The Cyrillic letter Ч could in English be ch (as in CHeek), but in german for ex. usually TSCH is written. In Dutch usually TSJ. CH in Dutch would not work, since that letter combination would be pronounced something like a throat-g (as unto the sound of a man trying to get a hair out of his throat). So anything from CHAIKOWSKI to TSJAYKHOFFSKI might be considered reasonably correct, since any transcription is basically phonetic. So if you want to avoid any discussion, write it tɕajˈkofskʲɪj.

I might give him a run for his money.

I cannot comment on you of course, but Scarly would probably not have gotten any furthr than a waddle for a dime... ;D
