I do a workout before I have piano lessons with my teachers.  She is really good looking.

And no... the hair on the palms does not interfere with the course at all.

I warm up my hands before I play because they're always cold... usually with heat packs. I've been told to bend my fingers back slightly before playing to stretch them, and hold 10 seconds each. Other exercises: open and close my hands, spread my fingers apart and together again... etc. I admit I can be lazy with these things but i try because I don't want injuries! Practicing can get addictive sometimes, so I need to be well warmed up!
I like playing piano after a light jog or walk, and some exercise. It helps me focus and gets my blood circulating- it's actually a lot easier to play.

Something a little aerobic to get the blood flowing a little?

The Prentice book looks kind of interesting.  I have another similar book, Hand Dynamics by * Batangtairs, although it's a little meta-physical/spiritual.

I don't think it's bad to focus on moving and stretching the hands and playing parts out before practicing.  I've overdone it a few times though.

Geez....   The author's first name is D a i m.    *Bob wonders if the author's middle name is Right.)

I found the Hand Dynamics book interesting because it has different ways of moving the hands and fingers.  Less thinking required on my part.

I agree Bob, you shouldn't really have to do too much away from the piano to warm up. When you start playing the piano don't break into something insanely powerful, do something gentle, something that is like an easy walk. Thanks for mentioning that other book!
