Fingerings Beethoven Sonata Nr. 27, Op. 90
on: September 29, 2010, 10:42:31 AM
The problem is in the left hand, in bars 55, 56, 57. What fingerings do you use in the left hand? Or what is the way to play this comfortably?
My hand is quiet bi, I can easely take a tenth, but it doesn't sound good now, and I can't practice this place more than 5 minutes cause I feel some pain so I stop.
Any help?  :)
Currently learing:
- Chopin: Ballade No.3
- Scriabin: Etude Op. 8 No. 2
- Rachmaninoff: Etude Op. 33 No. 6
- Bach: P&F No 21 WTC I

If you can reach a tenth, take the first two f-sharps with the 3rd finger.  The third one with the 4th.  but the difficulty is keep your hand relaxed throughout the passage.  And that can come only through a complete independence of the fingers.  That is, there is that micro micro second that the fingers let go of the note and relax.  The best excercise here is to stop with all your weight on the low note, and then flip through(so to speak) the next three notes as  a very fast triplet and landing on the next low note with all your relaxed weight.  Do it for several days without speeding up or playing it continuously, and it'll come.

Hey watch out!  Those tenths damage pianists.  It was the first piece my teacher, who specialized in injuries, taught me.  It's not fingering it's knowing how to relax in the right time/place.  Pleasant memories (she's dead now).

Exactly.  If you keep your hand stretched out like a stretched rubber band, it will surely injure you.

Hey birba, you're right! I just dug out my edition - I changed fingering on the first two F#'s to 3, last to 4.
