appropriateness of non-piano recordings
on: October 01, 2010, 02:28:23 PM
How appropriate are non piano recordings considered for the Audition room? the Improvisations room? Being an amateur I don't want to spam or dilute an outlet for more serious, professional pianists.

Some of the content in the audition room is of a very low standard so I doubt anything by you Derek will be offensive. I have also seen non piano music on pianostreet already so you wont be doing anything that hasn't been done before at least.

What non-piano ones?

I don't go there much.  I should.

I really wouldn't mind anything if some attempt is being made.

I agree with lost.

You may be an amateur in the sense that music is not your profession, but your playing is far from amateurish.  Your posts by no means dilute the audition room - you have taken the art of improvisation and spoke with it in your own voice.

The recent recordings you have put up are by a relative of the piano, and its great to hear other keyboard instruments.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Agreed, it is nice to hear other keyboard instruments.

If anything, I would suggest that certain "realisations" would be better off somewhere else.
