Rachmaninov Paganini-Rhapsody (complete)
on: October 01, 2010, 02:31:30 PM
I produced the whole recording all by myself Summer 2009.
It is all done with the Vienna-Symphonic-Library.
So no one has to admire any viruosity to hit the keys.
Meanwhile I would be glad if somebody might enjoy the music, which was as hard work to programm for the Piano aswell as for the orchestra as it was interesting for me from a musical point of view.
Since there is no other complete Version of this wonderful piece, I hope this recording might contribute to your collection.

The work you must have put into this!  There were some beautiful moments that reminded me of Cliburn.  The wonderful variation that has become popular hit, didn't really sound convincing.  very stilted.  I have no idea how you go about doing this, but I find the brilliant ones have the color and phrasing while the slower ones seem to drag.  But fun to listen to.  The piano sounds great, while the orchestra does sound synthetic at times.

I am not sure if I will get the time and reason to work again on this record, but if so I will think about what you said relating to the slower variations. thanks for your honest and critical remarks on my recording.

Wow, that's definitely a labour of love fahl5. Well done and congratulations!

I didn't have time to listen through it all but thought the piano was very real/faithful and I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of the piece soon.
