Book: The Super Sight Reading Secrets by Richman
on: October 09, 2010, 06:33:58 AM
Has anyone read this book before? I am not sure if this book is worth it to be read because of the negative reviews it gets from some people. I considered to read this book because in Chuan C. Chang's book, the fundamentals of piano practice, indicated that Richman's book is a must-read.

Well, you can find lots of negative reviews about Chang, too, so don't let that stop you. Richman's book is not very interesting to read. I found the exercises pretty helpful, and think I'd have found them more helpful if I'd stuck with them more diligently. The only way to find out is to try yourself for a few months.

Why don't you read it and find out?  And perhaps report back to us what you have discovered of value?  ;D ;D ;D

The book has helped me out a lot.  The people that leave bad reviews on it are people that most likely didn't give it an honest try.  You really have to sit down read through the whole thing then start from the beginning again and start doing what it says to do.

Thank you for the replies everyone. I will try to read it through when I have the time, but at least someone says that it is worth to read. :)

I'm not familiar with the title.  Could someone who's read it describe whom it's addressed to?  I'm curious whether the material is targeted to benefit those who don't sightread proficiently or if there are some "secrets" of interest to fluent sightreaders as well.

I know bernhard has talked about this book often so you might want to check up on his posts.  I know that it helped me but I didn't know anything about sight reading to begin with so I'm not sure about helping people who are already good at it.
