Let's say, for example, I've posted something which I regret having posted.  And I want to delete it.  How do I do that?

As far as I know, it's not possible to delete your own post without a trace.  You can edit it in the usual way, though, and replace the contents with something as small as a single character (e.g., a period or full stop) or a comment like post deleted or nm (for "never mind").
What passes you ain't for you.
