Jean Henri Pape Table - Circa 1834.

Case is made in Mahogany with trims in Gothic style trim. Stands on for leg two with pedal system, splay legged style. This also has the down-stricking action which Pape was so known to favor over other actions. These pieces are very rare that we only know of three others of this kind made by Jean Henri Pape.

Most can be found in museums in Europe, I have heard of one possible other in a museum in USA but this has yet to be confirmed. Jean Henri Papes inventions were so unique and outstanding during these period that one of the Table pianos he built won a gold medal at the "Exposition National Paris" in the year 1834. It is said that Pape was a crazy piano builder and inventor of his time, but to us, He was genius of pianoforte makers.!
