I have been playing the piano for 9 years, and am a pretty advanced student. I love the piano, and practice for 2 - 4 hours a day.
The only problem is that all of the pieces my teacher assigns to me are too easy, or at least I think so. I have only been taking lessons from this teacher for about 2 months. Before this teacher, I was learning pieces like Chopin nocturnes and Schubert impromptus and finishing them in a week. With this teacher, I memorized the Brahms Intermezzo in A major, op 118, no 2 in two weeks. I am currently working on the Beethoven sonata in G major, op. 14, no. 2 and have memorized and brougt up to tempo the entire first movement in two weeks also. I'm working on the second movement, and already have two pages memorized.
But I want to work on pieces that take me longer to memorize and are more techinically challenging! All the pieces I have worked on so far weren't at all hard for me; maybe tricky in a few measures, but not by any means difficult. I'm starting to get bored with all these easier pieces, and I want to tackle Chopin's Polonaise in A major (the Heroic Polonaise), and some Scriabin Preludes too. Does anyone here think that these would be too difficult for me? And how should I go about asking my teacher?

Thanks
