The Leila Fletcher Piano Course?
on: October 19, 2010, 03:21:52 PM
Has anyone used Leila Fletcher's Piano Course from book one to book six? If so, was it helpful? Some people suggest that it has too many fingering numbers. And I am thinking of buying the Leila Fletcher books for my cousin who wants to learn piano.

I've been wondering about this method as well.

Given that its been 12 years since the poster originally put his question up - I'll help you out.

I prefer the Bastien series of books for piano students. It will have basic fingering for the start of songs, but they can't become dependent on the fingering and have to think for themselves.

I've been using it for over a decade on new students.

Is there one series of Bastien books that is THE series of Bastien books? I vaguely recall using one of his books when doing a short stint of teaching children.

You have Bastien Piano Basics for children and the Adult Piano course for... well Adults.

But yeah, the Bastien series is well known.
