Piano Recital Program - Need your opinion...
on: October 25, 2010, 02:39:01 AM
Hi all, I'm new here and I haven't played in years due to injury so now I'm finally saying screw it I'm performing again!  I want to put on a benefit recital in about a year and a half or so and wondering if you guys could please give me some feedback on my program...thanks in advance!!

Bach Prelude & Fugue XV Book 1

Haydn Sonata 31 (in a-flat Hob. Xvi/46

Dela - Hommage

-intermission-

Vier Impromptus by Schubert
I. Allegro molto moderato

Mozart 12 Variations on Ah! Vous Dirai-Je Maman

What do you guys think? I have adrenaline flying through my body as I type this. Eek I might chicken out!  I'm so scared!

Thanks so much,
Natalie

Welcome to the forum, Natalie. I'm sorry about your injury problems and hope all will be well.

I like the program and think you should definitely go for it!

Yay thank you!  I want to make sure it's enjoyable yet a good variety. Last night I practiced the Prelude for about 40 mins and my injured arm was sore but it is fine today. I'm getting a little more excited!

I don't understand if you're playing all 4 impromptus or only one.  And which one is it?  If you're playing all four, I would end with them.

I listed it. Only the first one is there. I wanted to end with the Mozart because it's so showy :). But yeah only the first Impromptu.

I may consider this. I guess the reason I wNt to end with Mozart just because it's showy (as is the Dela I guess) and it's based on such a known and loved nursery rhyme. So I thought this would be cool. It's always been my dream to perform it so perhaps I'm placing too much importance on it.

Something else came to mind. With the new order (which by the way I'm going to do - bombastic is a much better way to end the night) I would in essence have to theme and variations in a row. The impromptu is basically one. Think it would be ok?  And by the way I pulled out the Dela this morning and boy do I ever suck after ten years of no playing!!Lol
