Liszt: Soneto 104 and Soneto 123. Which is harder?
on: October 28, 2010, 04:06:15 AM
Hello

I need to learn one of those sonetos. I love them both but I need to play one of them.
In your opinion which one is harder and why?

Thanks a lot
The masterpiece tell the performer what to do, and not the performer telling the piece what it should be like, or the cocomposer what he ought to have composed.

104 probably.  But it's also more beautiful, in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure 104 is harder, and possibly a more effective piece intrinsically... but on the other hand, 123 isn't played nearly as often and is still very beautiful :)
It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.
