Opinions on Stainberg & Song?
on: October 30, 2010, 03:27:32 PM
Hi :)

I've been playing the Kawai for many many years and am interested in getting another upright for my new home. Most of the pianos that came to my liking however are mostly over budget, and hence I was considering a used piano, particularly used Kawai's. But I've came across what I think could be a good value for money type of bargain. The model's Stainberg & Song UP-125, it's brand new, it sounds great, but the price is a little too low for my comfort. It's selling at SGD4300 with a 3 year warranty, covering both labour and parts, and including transport costs. The one thing that bug me further was that there's very little information on this brand no matter how I try to dig it up. So... any information on this brand will be greatly appreciated :)

Stainberg & Song? LOL :D It sounds like people who buy a Panasoamic Cam, a Somy HI-FI or a Kasio calc. Is real that make?  :)

EDIT: I searched in the net and this make is real, exists. Sorry, I can't give you any information. The low price reminds me to those new cheap makes such as Pearl River.

 >:( *pokes...yes its real okayy, am not hallucinating. lols. Honestly, at first I thought perhaps it was another name for Steinberg :\ and I went to look it up, turns out it's an independent brand, only thing I know is that it's there since 1829. I don't know if that's gonna be a comforter.

n its okay. tx anyways pianist1976 :)

Hi twoflowers,

so did you purchase Stainberg & Song? I am currently searching for "the ideal" piano. I was impressed by Stainberg's rich sound and it's parts seem to be of good quality. And like you, I'm wary.

Greatly appreciate if any kind soul(s) who knows about Stainberg & Song UP125 can share about their experiences and/or opinions? Thanks alot!

I had a chance to compare a new S&S UP125 with a used Yamaha U1 side by side. Ya, I know it's not an apple-to-apple comparison, but there wasn't a brand new U1 next to the brand new UP125. In any case, U1 is known to have a bright voice.

So, the comparison... ...

In terms of sound, UP125 is richer and stronger than U1.
In terms of height, UP125 is a few cm higher than U1.
In terms of material used, there's no plastic and plywood used in UP125, but there are plastic and plywood used in U1.
In term of pricing, UP125 is half that of U1.

Am very tempted to get UP125, but I'm just not so sure yet. Zero useful results found from the internet. And it doesn't help at all that S&S doesn't have own website.

I was looking for a piano that will still be good for my daughters' use when they reach advanced / Diploma level. I visited used and new piano shops but the one that really caught my attention was Stainberg & Song (UP125). I found it in PEACE centre. The sound was much better than some welknown brands. However, the price had gone up slightly from S$4300 to S$4600 when I asked the shop owner several days ago.
I like that one , the sound is GREAT ! maybe it is also because of the price tag or perhaps the curves on the "legs" which is appealing to me. However, I'm disappointed that it doesn't come with a genuine leather seat bench.

I also spent sometime online trying to dig up information on this "stainberg & song". I finally found something...https://www.yohayi.com/stainberg.html
I realised that the logo on UP125 is different from the one I found on the mentioned link. (Please see model G125X)
I spoke to the shop owner about this and was told that he only carry UP125, those seens online are only for China market and they are produced in a different factory. I am not sure if this is real, but for that sound and price tag, this could be the one, otherwise, I may go for a cheaper piano. Anyone has any information or comment about HL125 (HiLun) ?

Any owners of Stainberg & Song UP125 here? Care to share more? I'm also attracted by the rich sound and it stands out vs a second hand U3.
