recommend a debussy piece for a beginner
on: October 30, 2010, 04:35:31 PM
Hi

I played the piano for over a year but dropped it for almost 2 years... now I'm starting again and I'd like to try a piece of Debussy.

¿Is there any recommended piece for beginners? I really don't want to become frustrated again choosing too difficult pieces.

TIA

Let's leave it at "Le petit nègre"!  And that's the perfect piece for a beginner.

I don't think Debussy wrote much, if any, music for beginners.  But I think that one of his "easiest" pieces is La fille aux cheveux du lin.  https://www.pianostreet.com/piano_sheet_music/Debussy-309/Prelude-La-fille-aux-cheveux.html

It's quite pretty--you've probably heard it before.

Any piece played at twice the speed indicated is going to be difficult.  It's a cakewalk, not a boogie-woogie.  ;D

From the children's corner, there' Jimbo's lullaby and the little shepard.  It's true, there isn't much for a real beginner.  But then again, there are beginners, and there are BEGINNERS.
