Contemporary Piano Duet Suggestions
on: November 01, 2010, 11:13:53 PM
A friend and I have decided to learn a contemporary piano duet together and we were attempting to think of such a piece and failed. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Her standard is approx. ABRSM Grade 8 and mine is ALCM with the London College of Music.
Thanks in advance!

Not an immediate answer to your question, but there is a book of piano duets in preparation in the Spectrum series:
https://www.thaliamyers.com/spectrum/
From impressions of previous volumes, there should be a variety of interesting pieces to suit all tastes and techniques.
I don't know when it's due out but I guess you could email Thalia Myers.

Ronald Stevenson - 2 numbers from the 'Chinese Folk-Song Suite', arranged by the composer for piano duet. Charming and not too challenging to play. Reasonably contemporary: written in 1965. The the website of the Ronald Stevenson Society for details.
