Piano Microphone for Singing
on: November 11, 2010, 05:54:24 PM
Hi All,
I am teaching myself to play the piano and want to sing along while playing, if you could call it playing. ha I want to buy an economical microphone. Any suggestions? Thanks.

What would you like to do with this microphone? Use it for voice only? Do you wish to capture the piano sounds as well? Do you want to make recordings or is it only to amplify your voice?

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

I'm just a rookie but I figured one could hear the piano anyway. I like to sing (karaoke, etc) and just wanted to hear my voice while playing. Does that make sense? Thanks.

If all you want to do is hear your own voice with while you play the piano, no mic is needed. You need to develop your piano and voice skills to balance the two instruments.
You could use a cheap karaoke mic. Or if you wanted a classic but affordable voice mic, look at the Shure SM 58. However, this is not the best mic to capture piano sounds.
