Getting Ready Before A Concert
on: November 18, 2010, 06:13:41 PM
Hey guys, so I've got a concert coming up, a big one which I will play pieces including a Mozart Piano Concerto and Chopin Ballades, so I was wondering how would you suggest me to practise the concert day, like before concert? should I practise and play like always, or would that be exhausting in the concert?

I find it hard to believe that you're performing rep like a Mozart concerto and Chopin Ballades yet you don't know how you should practice before the concert.
That aside, what always helps me is to make sure i'm adequately warmed up (often that means running through scales and technical exercises for an hour or so before i'm fully warmed up and ready to play) and that I can play the opening bars of each piece. If you can just get through those opening bars exactly how you want, things usually fall into place.
