A new 2.5 minute fingerbuster has just been composed. You can hear the work alongside viewing the score at

I look forward to your comments, especially from those curious on how classical and jazz might come together in a convincing manner.

If you want the score for free, join the Bill Doerrfeld mailing list with the comment "I'm Flurious" at https://www.billdoerrfeld.com/?page_id=38

Enjoy!

Oh what fun! It's a MIDI keyboard playback, but that works quite well with a piece like this. The composition date is given as yesterday, which I guess is why Bill hasn't had time to practise and record it yet - but there's obviously more in it that a live performance can bring out.
Instrumentalists are all wannabe singers. Discuss.

Thanks Richard:

Yes. I wrote it yesterday (took ALL day). I was inspired in part by some feedback I received from someone on a different forum who felt my music might not be virtuosic enough to inspire top-notch pianists to perform. Said perception was based solely on reviewing just 8 minutes of audio I supplied from 10 tracks on my debut album. While there are virtuosic elements in those snippets (and even more so throughout the entire collection of 70 works I just published) there wasn't the "oh my god!" element that you get when you hear Tatum (which is apparently what is required to get the attention of the biggies, at least according to some...).

Anyway, this got my blood boiling and thus I challenged myself to put something out that really tested things a bit. So, in a "flurry", out came "Flurious".

There's a lot more of my work that is available and I surely won't be posting each work just to try to drum up support. But, I do appreciate informed folks taking the time to give the music a fair shot based on some small snippets that have been provided.

So, on that note, thanks much for your kind words and taking the time to review my work. I appreciate it.

Best,
