Bullying and Disturbing on this Forum
on: December 03, 2010, 06:37:29 PM
I have been on this forum for several days now and I was appalled to notice that several people (always the same) interfere abundently and unpleasantly disturb conversations with their bullying comments. Are people generally like this here or have I just joined at the wrong time? I was not aware of the fact that bullying is allowed on online forums.

As soon as you joined this forum, you cross-posted spam and advertising.  One of those threads was already deleted by management.

As I see it, you're in a new place in which you're unacquainted with the norms, decorum or culture.  You seem to have no interest in fitting in, and assume instead that an established community should conform to your expectations.  When questionable conduct is pointed out to you, you make personal attacks and insults.  Now you claim that you are a victim of "bullying."

It's not an easy road to breeze in somewhere and start selling something.  It doesn't help if you have a chip on your shoulder and act as though you know more than people who have been around for much longer.  In my opinion you should try to calm down, stop being so easily "appalled," consider telling us something about yourself in the Introduction thread, and try to make a fresh start.

I expect you won't like this response, but you did ask.

Another one bites the dust.

The thread ladybug started today in the Teachers Forum—in which (1) she solicited teachers to post links to their commercial websites, (2) I suggested that it had the appearance of advertising, and (3) she responded with insults and invective—has been removed by forum management.

I wonder if the administrator who deleted yet another of her questionable threads is now branded a bully, too.  :(

To all those who have found the time to comment on this thread:

I did not advertize anything on this forum.

I did not insult anyone - as everyone can read here you are the ones who are insulting and offending me with false allegations.

Maybe you should give your real names so that I can see why you find such a pleasure in all these attacks. If you prefer to stay anonimous then you should also stay silent.

The cycle of transgression, indignant denial, pot-kettle-black name-calling and then a delusional claim of victimization is a familiar and transparent pattern.  It's what people with massive entitlement do, and it's pathetic.

I find it very amusing that strangers take what other strangers say in a public forum so personally. Press the off button on computer and breath the fresh air.

My name is John Fox.  How much more about me do you know, now?  Two syllables.

Let me know if you want to keep playing the victim; I'm good at obliging people that distinct honor.  You had better toughen up, because the internet can be a scary place for kids.

Getting sick of the unstoppable self-promoting attitude of some members who only post to show their blog posts:

(a little example, there are around 40 more):

I hate bullying in online forums. also people in the forum should not post harsh comments just for the sake of critising. harsh comments=bullying.

Am I the only slightly annoyed by all these dead threads popping up again all over the place? I read through them and feel like replying only to realize it's a year old and the issue is dead and molding in it's grave. I understand it for some of the more generic ones but ones like this are just   :-\

Edit: Just to clarify, I am pretty new here, so I may be out of line, but I just figured I'd see if I'm alone in this
You may have noticed that I'm not all there myself

No obviously there are many out there who have complained about dead threads bumping newer threads so I've since then tried to cut the habit.

You brought back a thread that had dead again for weeks, to make that point?
