Easy Etude repertoire
on: July 29, 2004, 06:49:07 PM
I am looking for an etude for my daughter to learn, but they must be at an early level. Could be any composer.
It would be her first Etude. Something say in a level 2 or 3 range.

Why?
As a general rule an etude should be chosen for specific aims (the aims will define the choice of etude), and usually as preparation for a piece that requires the technique the etude is designed to develop.
I am no big fan of etudes myself, but at her level, Burgmuller Op. 100 is probably the most attractive option, since they work well as pieces on their own right (and so does Schumann’s “Little study” from Album for the young Op. 68).
Look here for a brief description of each (and which technical problems they tackle):

Best wishes,
Bernhard.

Actually, I don't really know why her teacher asked for it.
I just figured all Etudes were basically the same.
I will email him and ask him and get back to you if need be.
He did mention Burgmuller however, so I may get it anyway.
