on: December 15, 2010, 05:15:42 AM
I'm deciding whether is learn Liebestraum: Nocturne no 3 by Franz Liszt or Moment Musical opus 16 no 4 by Rachmaninov.. which do you like more? and which one do you think is easier to learn?

Which one do you like more ? My opinion doesn't matter. I'm not going to learn the piece, you are. Ask yourself the question : Which one do you like more ? It's only your opinion that matters.
About difficulty, this is very subjective. I have not played any of the pieces, so I can't really answer. I'd say that the Rach might be the most advanced of the two, but I could be wrong. Other people with more exwperience will give a better answer.

I suppose that Rachmaninov is more difficult. I prefer 4 moment musical (N. Lugansky - in my opinion the best performance) and I think it will be good choice. This piece is really amazing, fast, beautiful and interesting.

The Rach is many times harder than the Liszt, by far, is the OP trying to joke around with us or something? I don't like the Liszt because it is one of the most over played pieces in the piano repertoire.

In terms of technical difficulty I am relatively certain that the Liebestraume is easier. Of course, you must take into account how the Liebestraume is overplayed.
If you are up for a challenge I would recommend that MM no.4. I think I will set myself on learning that piece soon. It is indeed an exhilarating piece to listen to! I also like Luganksy's interpretation.

Bach - Partita No.2
Scriabin - Etude 8/12
Debussy - L'isle Joyeuse
Liszt - Un Sospiro
Goal:
Prokofiev - Toccata
