If you could only eat a single food or dish
on: December 22, 2010, 05:23:40 AM
for every meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?  And, there is almost zero variation at all in the food or dish (it can't be noodles with different sauces every night, or all sorts of different kinds of noodles, even) -- it's pretty much the exact same food, every, single time, prepared the same way every, single time.

I've thinking about it.  At first I thought maybe it would be a kind of grilled white fish, but I think I'd choose raw apples.  I would choose either of those because of the mild flavor which seems suitable when the whole thing gets boring.  But, apples in particular because of the texture, too, and the consistency.  Juicy, crunchy, chewy.

Lasagna with salad, rolls, and raspberry lemonade.  Finished off
with a dreamy chocolate cake.

(And if we were stranded on a desert island I would let you eat some of my
lasagna).

guys, that's not fair.  ONE SINGLE dish or food.  NOT an entire menu!
I think for me it would probably be granola.  There's probably more nutrients and a possibility to live longer.  But then again, why would I want to live?  Unlike lots of people,  I LIVE to EAT.
In fact, I don't think I like this thread...

Woah, cool, thanks!  I agree with Birba though, you need more limits!  Like, JUST lasagna.  AND, you can take vitamin supplements (not in gummy form though, that's too much like another food) so you don't have to try to stay alive with just one kind of food.  Seriously though, I thought about eating Phad Thai for every meal, and even though I love the flavor and such in a meal, I think somehow that would be more difficult to face for every meal than raw apples would be.  With raw apples, there's no big fall from grace as far as flavor and such goes and I don't think there will be as much to loathe about it as the days wear on and on.  I mean, it's probably going to taste almost exactly the same from day one into the rest of eternity.  Whereas, with lasagna or anything else that's super flavorful, at some point there's some major disappointment to deal with but ALSO, the details about it that make you initially love it, will probably be the exact same things that you start to hate and loathe.  With raw apples, you can just move on with your life.  That's what I think.  As a matter of fact, I'm gonna start that right now!   ;D

I think I'd go for peanut butter and jelly with bananas and lettuce on whole wheat bread.

Hmm would it be too much if I just chose all foods made of milk?  :P (Dairy products?) Probably that's too much... then I would probably choose milk! Specially milk for babies the powdered one. And then you mix it with water and you can put less milk into the water or more and it tastes different. And it's really good!!  :P and healthy probably if it's for babies.  :)
But I'm not sure if it's healty for the teeth if you don't have anything to chew  :-\
But I still think milk would be the best idea!  8)

Oh and if you have milk you can make yoghurt and cheese by yourself anyway!!!!! :) :P

BBBEEEEEPPPP!!!  Wrong answer.  Just kidding.  but, yeah, that's too much  >:(.  Just milk, or JUST cheese ... JUST one, single, item.

Ok ok :)  :P but you know if I had milk I could probably somehow make cheese out of it :) I think.... I'm not completely sure how you do that... but I could learn :)  :P

Yes, sure, but I'm more curious what a person thinks they could stand eating in exactly the same way for every, single meal (and I'm curious as to reasoning, too, of course).  It's not really about everything you could do with one item.  That's a whole other thing :P.  I could cook the apples and make applesauce or whatever, but the point is to eat it the same way every time.  So, for me, I am purposely choosing raw apples over applesauce, or baked apples, or apple pie, etc.

Oh I would never ever choose apples! :) I don't think I could eat apples not even for one day! If I eat one apple a week it's a lot for me... and usually my mum makes me eat them  :)
But I think the best for me would be milk or cheese or yoghurt  :-\ now I can't decide what  :-\ maybe I should try eating just cheese for one day or just yoghurt or just drinking milk for one day and then I would see what would be better :)

Yeah, actually, one of the reasons I know I would choose apples is because a couple of times I have actually almost completely lost my appetite for a week or a little longer, and the only thing I could stand to eat was apples, even though I don't normally love them nor make a point of eating them.  As a side note, it's hard to explain, but I lost my appetite because I was experiencing some kind of entire change in my entire system due to loving (or something) the piano and music so much (it would actually make me nauseous).  That's actually true.  It's only happened a couple of times, but it's a little strange!  Sometimes there's still this deep thing that I feel inside the pit of my stomach and in my sinuses at the same time.  Now that's more just bits here and there, but sometimes it would be almost entirely constant for days.  What the?

I suppose if it were only one dish I'd pick the healthiest thing I could pick?
but if we are ignoring reality here which we, are id have to say The heartiest stew I could imagine. and if allowed dessert id have to say panna cotta with fresh fruit and clear caramel sauce.

btw. m1469..if you read this. do you still make your chili from a mix sometimes? ;)

The apples are a wise idea for the reasons you give.  The drawback is there's not much to apples.  You would waste away but I would be living large with my lasagna. ;D  You would be forced to share my lasagna with me. :)  Are we allowed forks or must we eat with our hands?

Well, of course, my choosing apples isn't reality in that I realize it wouldn't sustain me.  But the whole thread isn't reality-based.  Sometimes the idea of wasting away doesn't seem all too unappealing to me  :D!  hmmmm ... lasagna ... *drools*.  Okay, see, I love forks.  They're great!  :D (just like frosted flakes ... except, that's Tony the Tiger who says that ... not me, though, okay, they're yummy in a way.  But, do they even exist anymore?  Come to think of it, I don't think Tony the Tiger even exists anymore.  He is *nearly* crush-worthy :) ... but not as cute as the fox from the Disney cartoon/movie Robin Hood.  I had a crush on him.).  But, yeah, forks are neat.  However, what's also super fun, is eating things with your hands/fingers that you might normally use a utensil for!  Like picking sausage out of the middle of lasagna and eating that.  mmmmm.  I also enjoy eating things with forks that you might normally eat by hand though ... well, like a burrito.  Or ... I don't know!
