Live piano streaming
on: December 26, 2010, 12:38:53 PM
Hi,
i'm trying to livestream an audio signal from my e-piano to the internet for some time now. i wired the stereo output of the piano with the input of my computer soundcard, just recording stuff works fine. i have tried to install and configure stuff like icecast2, but it didnt work.

I still hope someone was successful doing the same, but i can't find much of use on google or anywhere else, which is quite frustating. also tried streaming with vlc player, doesnt work either.
Skype might work somehow, but i just want to stream public from my pc, without forcing anyone to register for some service, account, etc. Best thing would be a link with my ip and a port to paste into vlc player for instance.

Anyone with any experience, success, tutorials, links?

You are trying to something quite sophisticated. There so many factors involved I would suggest a forum about exactly that subject.

Well, i just got my livestream working with vlc player on windows7.

For anyone interested:
I used this documentation https://wiki.videolan.org/Documentation:Streaming_HowTo_New to learn a little about the mechanics behind. This streaming features listhttps://www.videolan.org/streaming-features.html is very helpful to see which file formats and codecs can be used.
If you could use some help i can try, i will hopefully follow this thread for a while.

@wedgim, thanks for the info. I didn't know those tools :)

For those ones interested in online broadcasting, there's another free tool I know that is ShoutCast. The client program needed to listen the broadcasts is as simple and common as Winamp. And here there are the tools to produce the broadcasts.

When Practice Stagnates – Breaking the Performance Ceiling: Robotic Training for Pianists

“Practice makes perfect” is a common mantra for any pianist, but we all know it’s an oversimplification. While practice often leads to improvement, true perfection is elusive. But according to recent research, a robotic exoskeleton hand could help pianists improve their speed of performing difficult pianistic patterns, by overcoming the well-known “ceiling effect”.
