Hi:

We just moved from Minneapolis to San Carlos, CA. My son is 7 and is excelling as a classical pianist. He studied with Irina Elkina at MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis and recently performed at the school's Junior Honors Recital. He was the youngest musician chosen and the competition was across all instruments and voice.

We are in between teachers at the moment so Daddy is his teacher and I'm leaning towards enrolling him at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music's Preparatory Program.

If any of you have thoughts on SFCO - I would greatly appreciate your candid feedback. Further, if you, or teachers that you know, are outstanding for talented youngsters closer to the San Carlos/Stanford/Palo Alto area, I would really appreciate suggestions.

Thank you!

The San Francisco Conservatory is a great school of music.
I am not however familiar with their Prep program. However I do have a friend that is a great teacher and currently attends the Conservatory for the artist diploma.
you can check her site at https://jacquelynweitz.com/
She also should be able to give you more info as far as the Prep program.

If you do contact her, tell her that Avguste is recommending her as a teacher.
