George Gershwin - Three Preludes - Enzo
on: December 27, 2010, 05:24:51 PM
These preludes were among several pieces Enzo started to tinker with this December and especially the last 2 weeks, as soon as classes broke for the long Christmas vacation. New beat .. new rhythm .. definitely new to Lorenzo! Needs more work to get into that "jazz groove" and it would really be nice to have pointers at this stage that the piece is still evolving with Enzo.

Our apologies: we used here a Sony digital camera ... not a formal videocam ... and for reasons we could not explain there were strange noises and clicks that cropped up culminating in a loud distortion towards the end of the piece. And we just found out this in mono ... not stereo  .... hehehe!  So SORRY indeeed!

You're right that recording left much to be desired!
I had a little fun with my new camrecorder and gave a few tips to Enzo on the Gershwin.

Dear Birba, :)!
I am speechless that you went out of your way to make a teaching video specifically addressing the Gershin Preludes Enzo is attempting. It is a most opportune time since he is still learning the piece.  While listening to the video of Enzo I could feel that he played the notes but that "jazzy groove" was almost completely absent... and I must say that the portions you played to demonstrate your points were full of that "jazzy groove" so characteristic of Gershwin pieces.

I would like to invite everyone to view this teaching video done by Birba which aside from the excellent jewels of advice, you will see Birba himself performing. I can not thank you enough and I am sure enzo feels the same way. I am also sure he will devour and digest everything you said!!

With my deepest gratitude.

Thank you!  I hadn't read the intro to enzo's video and I wasn't aware that he had only studied the preludes for a couple of weeks!!  I'm glad I could be of help!  I had fun making it! ;D
