Need Help Identifying Piece
on: December 29, 2010, 11:40:50 PM
So. . . it's not a piano piece, although I figured I'd post it here, since this is usually where you guys are the most active.

As opposed to what the tags on the file told me, this is actually not Ginastera's Cello Concerto No. 1.  I'm not even sure it is actually Ginastera.  I plan on uploading his real Cello Concerto No. 1, but can't do so until I identify the above-linked piece.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.  I know: random.

I wanted to say Shostakovich at first and then thought not, that it sounded like a composer I hadn't heard before.  But...

How about... Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 2?

Or not... Grr...

Thanks, but no, it is not Shostakovich.  The rest of the work (assuming that helps) is here:

I got nothing.  I found a couple CDs on Amazon but there weren't any sound clips.

You could still get the key off the recording.  And it sounds like it's solo cello with string orchestra.  And someone who likes to use a motive in this case.  I would guess second mvt since it's slow.  With cadenzas.  And modern of course.

I don't have the file any more.  Is there a program that might be able to identify it from the audio off the youtube clip?
