Playing and singing at the same time
on: January 08, 2011, 07:03:27 PM
I'm finding it pretty hard to do. Any tips to practice this?

I do. And its worse: backing vocals!

I need to play and sing the descendent 5th from the lead guitarist.

Start with just voice and left hand, then fill in the right hand gradually until you're playing everything that's there. It's hard, I have to do it quite a lot and after 20 years I'm still not entirely comfortable with it - and I still have a voice like a toad being stepped on :-(
Instrumentalists are all wannabe singers. Discuss.
