Khachaturian -Toccata in E flat minor (Enzo)
on: January 11, 2011, 01:58:09 PM

This is our 1st post here of Katchaturian's Toccata in E flat minor.  This was performed early October 2010 at the University of the Philippines' Aldaba Hall. The piano is K. Kawai grand and the videocam is a cannon HD.  We will be so grateful for any comment.  Thanks!

Well, Enzo, I'm sure this was a piece of cake for you!  You carried it off brilliantly.  I was looking for the music, because I wanted to show you a few things, but I can't find it anywhere.  Not even in the IMSLP.
I especially enjoyed the middle section - you played it straight-forward with little pedal and it was very convincing.  I think my main criticism would be the tempo - you change it too much during the course of the toccata  (the 1st and 3rd parts) -  It has to be a driving relentless rhythm with perhaps a bit less pedal.  Maybe a bit slower, too.  I don't know.  If I find the music I'll send you something.
Great work, though, as always.
