Can someone help me identify this piece? (Maria Joao Pires Documentary)
on: January 14, 2011, 08:18:59 PM
Hello everyone,
The link below will take you to an online video of a Maria Joao Pires documentary called "Discovering Sound". Check it out - it's an interesting film. I watched it a few years ago and I always wanted to find out who the composed the piece played by the student around 27:00. It's so haunting and beautiful and it breaks my heart every time I listen to it....partly because I can't figure out who composed it!!
Can you help me?

Ravel, piano concerto in G, second movement (of course an orchestra is meant to join in later). Yes, it's a very beautiful piece of music, and thanks for the link to a very interesting documentary!

Thank you so much, Richard!! You have no idea how much your help means to me! The identity of that particular piece has been a 3+ year mystery for me.
I'm glad you enjoyed the documentary...
