Does anyone know the name/composer of this piece?
on: January 19, 2011, 03:50:35 PM
Hello everyone. I don't know if this is the right forum for this but I looked at all of them and this looked like the appropriate one.

About 10 years ago when I was taking piano lessons at conservatory one student used to play a piece I liked, but I never got the name/composer. Now, 10 years later, I still have the music in my head but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I've been looking for a while and I might just be failing miserably to find it, but maybe you guys can help me..

I don't remember the scale or anything so I picked G for my first note randomly, but the melody started like this (right hand): G G (up one octave) F Eb D C D F Eb D G (initial). I added a picture of it made with some site that came up on google.

I know this is a long shot and I'm sorry I can't provide anything else but I can't really remember the rhythm or anything.

Any ideas appreciated.

The first 10 or so notes are the beginning of one of the Chopin Nocturnes.
Instrumentalists are all wannabe singers. Discuss.

No, it's not 48/2. I can see why someone could think so though.

Do you remember anything about the style, tempo, type of accompaniment, etc.?
It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.

Tempo and rhythm, even approximate, would be very helpful! My earlier suggestion wasn't great, was it? My wife was playing Arensky in the next room at the time....

Thank you so much! That was it! Amazing that it was so fast to get the answer.

Thanks to everyone who tried too, I know it's not easy to recognize a music with so few details. Off to get the sheet music  :)
