on: January 20, 2011, 12:19:09 AM
i have a Petrof upright piano. judging by the serial number (260618) it was built somewhere between 1976 and 1978. anyhow, i can't find anywhere which model is it. can someone please tell me what should i look for if i'm trying to establish which model is it?

The height in cm is usually the defining parameter.

Then that's it, it's a Petrof 114cm. All you need to know, usually.

Oh, I see! I thought maybe it is important what specific model it is, so that i can find out what are some of the features that were available on that model. if all I need to know is this two simple things, then I'm ok.

Richard's answer is right but if you really want to be more specific, acoustic piano's are classified by the length of it's longest string, that is, upright's longest is 52 inches; baby grand starts at 54 inches and the really expensive goes 7 feet or even more!
