Conservatory Auditions
on: January 29, 2011, 09:01:54 PM
I will be auditioning next year for a few conservatories, and just wanted to check over my audition works and see people's views on them.

Bach Prelude and Fugue #10 in E minor
Beethoven Sonata No. 5 (Op. 10 No. 1)
Chopin Ballade No. 1
Contemporary- Undecided (Any opinions)??
Chopin Revolutionary Etude Op. 10 No. 12
Rachmaninoff Etude Op. 39 No. 6

What are your guys's feelings? Do you have any opinions? Thank you so much for all of the input!

Either you play them like crap, and then it's a bad program. Or you play them well, then it's a good program.

In general its a decent program, but ofcourse it depends on WHERE you do the audition, and HOW you play those pieces ;)

How about Takemitsu 'Rain Tree Sketch' for the contemporary piece? Not actually contemporary as it was written almost 20 years ago, but it is lovely.

It's good program in my opinion, but I see that you don't play for instance 'octave etude'. Which AM do you choose?
Now playing:
Prokofiev - Sonate in d-minor op. 14
Bach/Busoni - Chaccone in d-minor
Bach - II Partita in c-minor
F. Chopin - Barcarole in F sharp major, Op. 60
                Ballade in f-minor

I don't have a guy so I can't ask him his feelings.
Instrumentalists are all wannabe singers. Discuss.

Hi  - The only way we check them over is if you post them and we can hear you play them . The question isnt if the composers and music is fine, its if your fine.   Looking foward to hearing you.

Cheers, Becky

For your contemporary piece try "One Man's Dream" by Yanni. Hahaha, that'll mix it up!

Why not Ballade pour Adeline, by Clayderman, as the contemporary? Everyone some how seem to like that crap...
