Fundraising Concert....
on: January 31, 2011, 08:00:32 AM
Hello. :)

So Im thinking about holding a concert to raise money for me to go to a summer music camp.

First of all... Is that even appropiate, for me to hold a fundraiser just for me?

Second, if I did do it.... Do you think I should charge for admissions or just ask for a free-will offering (which is what Im strongly considering doing.)

And third... What type of pieces would I play for this type of thing??

Advice would be appreciated. :)

Currently:
Chopin Grand Valse Brilliante
Mozart Piano Sonata K 332
Scriabin Preludes Op 11 no.5,6,7
Bach Prelude and Fugue in G minor

Not at all, I am hosting a fundraiser myself so I will hopefully be able to buy a tank full of petrol

Not at all.

The concert is to be held in my hometown on 5th April. People attending can either pay £5 on the door or bring a gallon of petrol.

Fundraiser for yourself - why ever not? It's basically just a normal professional gig, in a sense - you play, they pay, you go home remunerated for your trouble!

Sometimes asking for donations rather than a fixed price gets more money than you would have dared ask for. I'd probably go for that in the circumstances.

Repertoire? Whatever you play well, really. You want to show yourself at your best, after all.

Good luck with it, I hope it goes really well.
