Music Recommendation
on: February 03, 2011, 08:56:06 PM
I too am looking for recommendations to study. I took lessons for 15 years which included a semester at university. I have not studied with a professional since that time (25 years). I still play for enjoyment but have not seriously taken on a new work since that time. The last songs that I learned were Ravel's Sonatina in F# Major, all three movements and Schubert Impromptu Opus 90 No. 4. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I never could quit understand the need for listing particular pieces. I just play what I like. I'm in it for impressing nobody but myself....
Music is from the heart. Let it fly!

Hi - Jimbo is right if your just doing this for fun , then whatever strikes your fancy. On the other hand if you actually would like to improve your skill level or truly learn a piece then I suggest for now Bach, then more Bach, Then more Bach. Nothing else like it to puts a rusty pianist back into shape. AT least thats what my teacher says. After Bach lets see.
Classical period - Haydn Sonata.
Romantic. - Chopin Waltz.
Of course im just throwing stuff out there. Just guessing really.
Best of luck with your playing
Cheers, Becky
