Gershwin - Three Preludes - Lorenzo (Enzo)
on: February 13, 2011, 09:01:43 PM
When I post any on my son's piano videos here, it felt then as if we were taking an exam. But with time we have become comfortable as it has become clear that many people here speak out their minds which in the final analysis is really what matters if one wants to improve.
Birba made a teaching video on the Gershwin Preludes we posted several weeks ago which was so unselfish of him and we hope that Enzo's 2nd try will be along the lines that Birba and Enzo's teacher suggested. So here goes the 2nd try. Any other comments will be most appreciated.
Sorry for some fumbled notes.

Alright! What a difference! There were some really lovely moments in the second prelude. And I also liked that cesura in the first prelude before the run at the end. And though I thought the 3rd prelude was a bit rushed, you brought it off nonetheless. I'd still like to hear that syncopation in those measures before the final reprise. Take the speed down a notch here - in effect it's a sort of cadenza. But the entire performance is so convincing and mature for one so young that I can only say BRAVO!

Dear Birba,
Thank you so much. Frankly we were somewhat apprehensive that
we may not have met most of your advice; though we still have a
lot to work on, we are glad you liked it. I will show this to Enzo as soon
as he arrives from school this afternoon.

I can only say that that No. 1 was the best I've heard it played by anyone around this age! Tell Lorenzo well done, and much respect
